Yayasan Sejahtera


Yayasan Sejahtera (Sejahtera), registered on 7 August 2009, is a poverty alleviation programme working under the Silver Book initiative set up by the Putrajaya Committee of Government Linked Companies High Performance (PCG).

The Sejahtera framework is aligned with the United Nations (UN) Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and two National Key Result Areas (NKRAs) under the Malaysian Government Transformation Programme to improve the socio-economic growth of Malaysians. i.e.

  1. Raising living standards of low-income households
  2. Improving basic rural infrastructure.


Yayasan Sejahtera’s holistic approach to poverty alleviation and empowerment of the hard-core poor in Malaysia is premised on four building blocks:

  1. Supporting basic food needs and proper nutritional intake through innovative community/home based farming, and ensuring access to health facilities and/or supplies
  2. Providing basic services like water,  utility, sanitation and energy for rural locations
  3. Rehabilitating homes and conducting basic  repairs to meet minimum standards e.g. roof, flooring to provide adequate and safer living environment
  4. Supporting sustainable livelihood as a means to end poverty through education, employment, skills building, training, and access to capital for social business

WHAT THE FUNDS ARE FOR?

The funds will be utilised to help the hard-core poor in Malaysia to break out of the poverty cycle by providing the necessary tools, skills, infrastructure and opportunities.
