15 March 2010

Kuala Lumpur, 15 March 2010 – The Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2010 scheduled to be held on June 27 aims to attract 18,000 participants, in line with its growing reputation as an international and highly-anticipated race in the country. xxThemed “Run as One”, the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2010 promises to be a truly community affair that appeals to professionals, amateurs, families, corporate bodies and non-government organisations (NGOs)
The race offers a total of USD100,000 as prize money, with an enhanced guaranteed prize pool for Malaysian runners, including prizes through to 5th place and a new “Veterans” category. Winner of the open category stands to bag USD17,500, while the local winner is guaranteed USD2,500. The Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2010 was officially launched today, by guest-of-honour, Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Dato’ Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
“A marathon race builds the capacity for endurance. The Ministry remains in gratitude to the organisers and Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad in creating not only a platform for healthy lifestyle but also a common aim for people across all ages to converge.”
