MY MOTIVATION
This year I run in memory of my beloved mother, who passed on 13 July. She had aortic stenosis (AS), a form of heart failure. Mum opted for no active intervention for her AS but instead just wanted to be assured that when her condition became symptomatic, she would be kept comfortable, and expressed that she wanted to be cared for at home.
While we grief for our loss, we are thankful that Hospis Malaysia was there to support her throughout and in her final days they ensured that her symptoms (and they were quite distressing), were managed well and she was able to spend them at home, with her loved ones.
On the final night, I held her hand through that night until she passed the next morning. Goodbye mum.
