Standard Chartered Foundation

At Standard Chartered, our purpose as an international bank is to drive commerce and prosperity through our unique diversity. Our heritage and values are expressed in our brand promise – here for good. As Malaysia’s oldest operating bank, Standard Chartered Malaysia is committed to promoting social and economic development in the markets we serve and proud to have grown with Malaysia for 150 years.

The Standard Chartered Foundation (the Foundation) is dedicated to empowering young people and addressing inequality. Leveraging over 170 years of Standard Chartered’s global network and expertise, the Foundation transforms opportunities into lasting prosperity.

The Foundation supports our global youth economic empowerment initiative, tackling inequality and promoting greater economic inclusion. Between 2024 and 2030, we aim to enable and support 140,000 jobs, for young people. We will do this by enabling disadvantaged young entrepreneurs and jobseekers, predominantly women, to learn, earn and grow to improve their economic skills and prospects.

Established in 2019, the Foundation’s programmes are delivered in partnership with NGOs, community partnerships, our business and client networks, and harnesses the skills and knowledge of our colleagues. All programmes have a strong focus on disability, gender and financial inclusion, and green and sustainable jobs.

From 2019 to 2024, the Foundation supported more than 53,000 young people to access decent jobs and enabled more than 35,000 jobs through supported microbusiness.

In Malaysia, the Foundation has impacted the lives of over 30,000 Malaysian youths through various programmes and contributed close to MYR8 million in total to realise these initiatives. Standard Chartered Foundation’s (Malaysia) programmes highlights:
