About

Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon is making a conscious effort to help raise funds for many of Malaysia’s charities, so we can focus on what we do best -  caring for and serving the less fortunate.

Our initiative is a community effort and cannot be successful without the support of runners, corporations, media and other organisations. Through this the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon is taking a step forward to become a true community event and helping the less fortunate across all ages and ethnicities. The target groups include underprivileged people with disabilities and health topics. Your support to these initiatives will help them overcome their challenges and improve their lives.

How It Works

  • Participants who register for the Run For A Reason (RFAR) programme in support of the Event's official charity partners, are bound by the specific Rules and Regulations of the RFAR programme in addition to the Rules and Regulations applicable to the individual categories.
  • For registration, each participant must first obtain a PIN code by donating to one of our charity partners. The required donation is RM200 for Malaysian Residents or RM600 for Non-Malaysian Residents.
  • Please note that PIN codes are subject to availability. Participants must contact the charity partners directly to inquire about current availability.
  • Each PIN code is valid for one registration only and must be utilised before the registration deadline.
  • As RFAR is intended for individual participation, PIN codes cannot be purchased in bulk by companies, and corporate registrations are not permitted. Companies interested in participating are encouraged to join the Corporate Challenge instead.
  • Participants have to raise funds from individual donors (companies are not allowed) through a personalised fundraising profile page on this website. Minimum donation is RM30 per transaction via our payment gateway.
  • Fundraising remains open until 12 October 2026. From now until 31 July 2026, runners who raise between RM500 to RM999 will receive an RFAR Bath Towel, while those who raise RM1,000 and more will receive both the RFAR Bath Towel and an exclusive RFAR ASICS Tee.
  • Participants are strictly prohibited from swapping, transferring or offering to sell, swap or transfer their registration or allowing any other person to wear their running bib.
  • In case a RFAR participant decides not to participate in the run and/or is unable to raise funds, the amount raised so far will be donated to the designated charity of the participant and no refund will be made.

Tax Exemption

  • Tax exemption receipts are only available for donations made to Hospis Malaysia, Kechara Soup Kitchen Society, TFM Foundation, and Yayasan Jantung Kongenital Malaysia. No tax exemption receipts will be issued for donations made to Standard Chartered Foundation.
  • Tax exemption receipts will be sent to individual donors who requested for it (those who selected "Yes" in the online donation form) by the respective charity organisation(s) within 3 months after the online donation has closed.
