MY MOTIVATION
I have always felt a calling toward palliative care—the sacred work of protecting the dignity of those at the end of their life cycle. Yet, I will be honest: I haven't yet found the courage to volunteer in person. The emotional weight of knowing those I speak with may soon pass has felt overwhelming.
This year, I am choosing to support Hospis Malaysia in a different way. If I cannot yet offer my presence, I will offer my physical endurance. Inspired by Haruki Murakami’s reflections on the discipline of running, I am challenging myself to my first 21km Half Marathon. As a total beginner, this distance feels like a mountain, but it is a small tribute to the resilience shown by patients and their families every day.
Beyond the run, I find the process of fundraising to be a stimulating challenge—a way to turn my own hesitation into tangible support for a cause that ensures no one faces the end of their journey without dignity
