MY MOTIVATION
Last October, my grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Since then, our family had to learn how to care for her at home. One reason we managed was HOSPIS.
We chose palliative care because comfort and quality of life mattered most. HOSPIS supported us through this difficult season, free of charge.
Our nurse, Rachel, was amazing. She was patient, always called back quickly, and helped with pain management. It made a hard season feel human 🥹
Even my grandma insisted on donating after meeting them. That stayed with me.
When I first signed up, my grandma was still with us. I wanted to take on my first 21km to honour her and give her something to look forward to.
Since then, Grandma has passed. This run feels different now, but I still want to continue in her memory and carry her spirit.
I’m raising funds so more families can receive this palliative care support.
