A hearty congratulations to all finishers at the recently concluded Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2016!

 

Runners from all walks of life and from all over the world came together on Sunday morning with the one goal of owning the streets of Kuala Lumpur and own the streets they did! A total of 5,595 participants completed the marathon within the new 7-hour cut off time with Kennedy Kiproo Lilan from Kenya emerging as the Champion for the fifth time with a finishing time of 2:18:57 while Hirut Beyene Guangul from Ethiopia took the Women’s crown with a finishing time of 2:39:02. 

 

Muhaizar Mohamad was victorious as the Malaysian champion with a finishing time of 2:39:23 while Yuan Yu Fang took the Malaysian Women’s winner title with a time of 3:19:04. We are exceptionally proud of Sheela Samivellu, the new Malaysian Women’s Champion in the Honda Half Marathon category, setting a new National Record of 1:24:44, beating her own record which was recently set in April 2016.

These acts are a brilliant demonstration of what personal empowerment can do for the human spirit. We salute all runners that took part in the marathon, and we thank them all for the great support shown.”

 

Completing the experience was the Active Lifestyle Expo in conjunction with our Race Pack Collection, the inaugural SCKLM Friendship Run and Pasta Party.

 

“It has been an amazing year. The support that we have received have been tremendous. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!”, said Rainer Biemans, Director of Dirigo Events. “Marathon runners are constantly looking to better themselves, therefore, we will too. We are always happy to receive feedback from runners on how we can improve our races so please do so”, he added.
