KLSCM 2024 Pacer Application - Terms and Conditions

General

  1. You must be a resident of Malaysia and at least 21 years old as of Event day to apply as a volunteer pacer.
  2. You need to have some experience in competing regularly in the distance and pace you are applying for and have shown consistent performances in the past 2 years.
  3. You must be able to comfortably run even splits throughout the race, meaning that each kilometre is run in about the same amount of time.
  4. Proven success as a pacer in the past is a plus, but not a requirement.
  5. Other running experiences and past track records, attitude and commitment to our pacer programme will also be taken into consideration during selection process.
  6. Application Period: 2 April - 15 April 2024.
  7. The Organiser reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. In the event that any changes are made, the revised terms and conditions shall be posted on this website immediately. Please check the latest information posted herein to inform yourself of any changes.
  8. All other Rules and Regulations for the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon as stipulated on the Official Website apply.

Assessment Run

  1. All shortlisted applicants are required to participate in the assessment run.
  2. If you are shortlisted, you will be contacted to attend the run (7km for the 10km category, 10km for the half marathon category and 18km for the full marathon category) on 19 May 2024 in Kuala Lumpur.
  3. You need to run in the pace that you will be pacing for on race day (e.g., the full marathon 4:30 pacers need to run a pace of 6:23 min/km).
  4. Watches, mobile phones, or any sort of electronic devices, as well as non-electronic tools which can track your pace are strictly not allowed.
  5. Further details about the assessment run will be emailed to the shortlisted applicants later.

Roles and Duties

  1. If you are chosen to be a pacer for KLSCM 2024, you are required to adhere to the pacer rules and agreement.
  2. You must accomplish your obligations as a pacer, especially maintaining a consistent pace and completing the run with your fellow pacer partner with a gun time of 1 second to 1 minute ahead of the pace group timing.
  3. You need to be prepared to offer encouragement and motivate runners in your pack.
  4. You are required to wear the official pacer apparel and shoes on race day.
  5. You must be able to provide the organiser, upon request, with relevant training records, logs and your race day pacing strategy.
  6. You must not participate in any events or races (21km and beyond), including, but not limited to, road or trail running, cycling or mountain biking, triathlon, duathlon or any other sports involving a substantial risk of personal injury which may impair or destroy your ability as a pacer, 3 weeks prior to race day (starting from 16 September 2024).
  7. You have to attend the Pacer Kit Presentation event in Kuala Lumpur on 2 August 2024. Further information will be provided in due course.
  8. You have to attend and participate in 1 Running Clinic session in Kuala Lumpur on 8 September 2024. Further information will be provided in due course.
  9. You have to attend the Meet the Pacers session at the Active Lifestyle Expo during REPC, if any.
  10. Further details about pacer duties and responsibilities will be outlined in the pacer agreement which will be emailed to the successful applicants later.
